U10 Boys Retain Midlands Title

The club are incredibly proud to announce that our Under 10 Boys have successfully retained their title as Midlands Champions following a spectacular display of hockey at the Nottingham Hockey Centre this weekend.

In a repeat of last year's heroics, the boys showed immense character and skill to navigate a challenging field of the region's best young talent.

The Group Stages: A Perfect Start

The tournament began with a clinical group stage performance. The boys topped their pool with a 100% record, securing vital wins against Old Silhillians, Leicester Westleigh, and Leek HC. These results set a confident tone for the knockout stages to follow.

The Knockout Rounds: Nerve and Determination

The quarter-final saw a tense encounter with Towcester. Despite dominating possession and earning numerous short corners, the breakthrough proved elusive until the closing stages. The boys remained patient and eventually made a set piece count, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

The semi-final brought the ultimate test: a clash with the host club and regional powerhouses, Beeston HC. In a thrilling end-to-end match, Telford edged ahead to lead 2-1. The win was famously preserved by an incredible diving save from Jacob W in goal, a moment of individual brilliance that sent the travelling fans into raptures and booked a place in the final.

The Final: Champions Again

Standing between the boys and the trophy were West Bridgford, a side that had enjoyed a dominant run of victories throughout the day. In a final defined by tactical discipline and high work rates, Telford found the decisive goal to win 1-0. As the final whistle blew, the "Blue Army" of travelling supporters erupted in celebration.

A Club-Wide Achievement

This success is a testament to the hard work put in by the players, but also to the dedicated support network behind them.

A massive thank you goes to Jon Woodrow, Lucy Woodrow, and Lisa Hennessy for their expert coaching and management on the day. We also recognise our junior coaching team back in Telford, who were eagerly following the results from afar and have been instrumental in the boys' development.

Finally, a huge well done to the players for their tireless effort, and to the parents and family members who have supported this journey every step of the way.
