A massive congratulations to Lorna Mackenzie and David Goodfield whose clubs, Reading HC and Surbiton HC respectively, have been crowned England Hockey National Premier League Champions.
Lorna's Reading HC battled Hampstead & Westminster HC in the semi-final, drawing 1-1 before triumphing 2-0 on shuffles. This set up a thrilling encounter with hot favorites Surbiton HC, where Reading clinched a 1-0 victory in the final, securing their first title since 2013.
Meanwhile, David skippered Surbiton to their first win since the 2019/20 season. They convincingly beat Wimbledon HC, which featured another T&WHC alumni, Callum Mackenzie, 6-2 in their semi-final. Surbiton then beat Old Georgians 2-1 in a closely fought final.
These victories for Reading and Surbiton confirm their places in the prestigious Euro Hockey League for next season. Excitingly, Callum Mackenzie's Wimbledon HC also secured a Euro Hockey League spot by beating Oxted 3-2 on a penalty shootout in the 3rd/4th play-off.
The club is incredibly proud to have three former juniors feature so prominently in the culmination of England Hockey's top tier of league hockey. What an outstanding achievement!
