Former junior and Masterclass coach, Callum Mackenize returned from injury to claim his 50th international cap and gold in the Nations 2 Cup played out in Oman.
The first ever Men’s FIH Nations Cup 2 trophy went the way of the Scots after beating Egypt 4-2 in the final in Muscat. The Scots were 4-0 up before Egypt rallied with two goals in the last 10 minutes but the damage had been done.
Two goals from Struan Walker and strikes from Jamie Golden and Tommy Austin sealed the win for the Blue Sticks to play in the Nations Cup, the competition below the FIH Pro League.
Head of Juniors, Sunny Sahota: "The club is absolutely delighted to congratulate Callum on reaching his 50th cap and his subsequent gold medal win. He had only just returned to fitness training when he coached at our Masterclass in December, so it's a remarkable achievement to get himself fit for the tournament. We look forward to seeing him continue this success in the domestic Premier League Top 6 competition for Wimbledon HC in March, and cheer him on in the playoffs at Nottingham Hockey Centre."
