Leaving home in the dark for an early trip to Burton meant the coaching team had to refuel pitch side pre-warm up.
Despite the crack of dawn start the women began the game with the same passion and effort they finished last week.
Playing high up the pitch put pressure on the opponents and gave Telford the time to play out from the back. It was stalemate until a dynamic move from the Telford defenders saw Kate pick up the ball in midfield and slap a long ball through to Erika who had two great touches and put Eliza through who beat the keeper with an inch perfect shot.
In to the second half and the efforts of the first half seem to be showing with the women switching off for a few minutes and allowing Burton back into the game with a tennis style volley and double deflection off Burton sticks. The goal woke up our legs and the ball pace came back into our game. We had a number of short corners which were not converted but the pressure paid off with a simple slip pass in the D from Mia to the lively Eliza who sloted home her second and the match winner. Two minutes of nerves saw Telford finish off the game with 3 points and the best performance of the season. Player of the match went to Eliza.
